The median Spanish tutor in Preply's search results lists $25 an hour, and the middle half charge $19 to $35. That comes from the 958 Spanish tutors TutorDNA read in Preply's search results on 6 October 2026.
To see where specialists sit, we grouped tutors by what their headline says they teach, matching whole words in English or Spanish, and compared each group with the rest. A tutor can belong to several groups, and any group with fewer than 30 tutors is left out.
The short answer
- Most specialties list at exactly the $25 median: conversation, grammar, kids, beginners, travel and native-speaker headlines.
- Two list higher: fluency coaching at $30.50, and certified tutors at $29.
- Teaching children and beginners goes with more bookings. 41% of tutors who mention kids and 45% of those who mention beginners carry Preply's "Booked N times recently" mark, against 28% of all Spanish tutors.

What the numbers suggest
Spanish is the flattest of the four markets TutorDNA tracks. Six of the nine specialties we could measure list at exactly $25. In English, the same kind of groups range from $26 to $43.50; in Spanish, from $23 to $30.50.
Certified tutors also have far more experience. They have taught a median 2,845 lessons, against 1,782 for all Spanish tutors, so experience may explain part of their $4 premium.
Fluency coaching lists highest, at $30.50 across 68 tutors: a specific result, rather than practice in general.
Kids and beginners: the same price, more bookings. Tutors who mention children or beginners list at the median but are the most likely to carry the "Booked N times recently" mark.
Spanish tutors are busy across the board. Spanish tutors listing $20 to $60 taught a median 86 lessons a month between scrapes, the most of the four subjects TutorDNA tracks. The Spanish rates page keeps that figure up to date.
One caution. These are the listed prices of tutors who chose those words. They don't show that adding a word to your headline raises your price, and long-time students may pay less than a tutor lists.
If you teach Spanish on Preply
- A specialty rarely moves the price on its own. Most Spanish specialties list at the median; fluency coaching and certification are the exceptions, and certified tutors also have more experience.
- Check where your rate sits. The Spanish rates page places any rate against the whole Spanish market, with live figures in its "What stands out" section.
- The Super Tutor badge barely changes the price in Spanish, at most $3 more among tutors with similar experience, but Super Tutors teach more lessons a month, 84 against 71. The Super Tutor guide compares all four subjects.
- Know what you keep. Preply's commission takes 18% to 33% of each lesson, plus every trial. The commission calculator shows what a rate leaves you.

How we measured
TutorDNA reads the tutor listings in Preply's public search results every week. This page uses the 958 Spanish tutors listed on 6 October 2026. A listed price is the hourly rate a new student sees, before Preply's commission. Medians and the middle half (the 25th to 75th percentile) are taken over the tutors in each group. "Booked recently" is the share of tutors whose card showed Preply's "Booked N times recently" mark that day. More in the methodology.
